Keep Your Tent Dry Inside During the Rain

Keep Your Tent Dry Inside During the Rain

Posted by Laurie Womer on

When you’re camping, it often only takes a little bit of rain to make the entire experience far less enjoyable. This is because a lot of people don’t know how to properly keep a tent dry in the rain. Therefore, all of their possessions suddenly become damp and instantly turn a great day into a miserable one. That’s why you need to know how you can make sure that the inside of your tent remains perfectly dry when the rain starts pouring.

Set Up a Groundsheet

This piece of waterproof material is extremely handy because it acts as a barrier between the rain-soaked ground and the bottom of your tent. So rather than the rain being allowed to make direct contact with the bottom of your tent and eventually soaking it, the rain will instead hit the groundsheet and go around the entire tent, making it an effective way to keep a tent dry in the rain.

Using a canvas tent that is made with high quality canvas, a steel frame and a  and a vinyl fly will help to make it more durable.

Use a Fly

It’s hard for the rain to soak a tent when it can’t even touch it. That’s where a rain fly comes in handy. By setting up a fly above the tent, it allows the rain to safely roll of the material an onto the ground, bypassing the tent entirely. This should help keep a tent dry in the rain, even during a torrential downpour.

Get a Tent With High-Quality Waterproof Materials

In extreme rain, these helpful tips might not be enough to help keep the inside of your tent dry. That’s why you need to stack the odds even more in your favor by looking at the high-quality tents and then choosing one built with water-resistance material. So even if your tent manages to become hit with some rain, it should have no problem remaining dry on the inside.
